Silly Sleeping Dog

We are getting a new puppy next week and we are going to crate train so wish us luck! We have already named her Daisy. She is so CUTE!

Good-Bye Kyler

The kids wanted to make sure we didn't forget Kyler so here is how he fit in our lives and what we loved about him.
We had Kyler since March 2009. He was a "drop-off" as most dogs are in our town. The kids were impressed because he listened to them, and Kevin chased him out of the yard because that is what we do to all the dogs. When I came home and saw him, I just about chased him out but then I realized he was the color, size and personality of dog we wanted. He adopted us since he immediately made himself at home on our back deck.He cowered at us for about two months, suggesting he was beaten by a previous owner, and when we would throw a ball or stick he would duck and hide. We found out he was not a needy dog but he did like to chase sticks and shread them. He loved to be pet and scratched anytime/anywhere and loved it so much you would think he was being massaged by a professional.
We only heard him bark once, because there were racoons in our nut trees. He found 6, which were taken out by Kevin soon after. He chased birds and squirrels, and loved to go on walks with us. Kyler was a great camping dog and very good at riding in the back of the truck.My favorite thing about Kyler was when we would get home and he would be so excited to see us, he would "talk" to us with his "wow owow" howl. It was so sweet! We enjoyed and loved him while he was with us, and he definitely loved us. The only thing we did not like was him leaving our yard during the night. Kyler was found dead yesterday morning, Dec 8,2009, next to our neighbor's house, with a bullet hole in his head right between the ears. We aren't sure who shot him but we are really sad he isn't here anymore. We loved our Kyler and we were glad to give him a good family for a little while!

Free PUPPIES!

We gave away four of my neighbor's puppies by Sportsman Warehouse and Costco!The kids almost sounded like activists say "free the puppies".
Rachel and I couldn't stop laughing especially since the puppies were in a "cage".

It was fun to give my kids that experience, and we did give all of them away.

Puppy Love

Would this be a good reason why puppy love came about? "I can't chew on these shoes so I'll refrain by sleeping on them." Puppies are adorable!

Hub aka Fatty

We found a healthy, free puppy. Hub is super whiney and is very fat! He definitely came with a massive belly. He does eat for comfort we noticed or if he gets bord. Hub will wander over to the place where we feed him and sniff or lay down. He went through withdrawls as we got him used to a healthy feeding schedule. We have to have him as an inside dog because there are too many stray dogs to tempt him to run all over the town with them. He is a keeper and his health is so far so good. Although I would like it if he potty trained faster. I am really sick of cleaning up puppy pee!

Animal Shelters

I sure learned a lot about why I get a puppy from a box at the grocery store for free. We have a neighbor that was helping us find a dog. Justin and Rachel wanted a dog too so she was on a quest to find two puppies. She looked at the dogs at the shelters online and so we visited the ones she picked out. We found these two puppies that were so adorable and paid $100 for both of them. We thought we were doing a good deed and helping these animals out. Justin and Rachel's dog (Audrey, black) ended up dying of Parvo 5 days later and our dog (Smokey, brown) had bloody stools and ringworm and who knows what else. If you don't know, ringworm is very contageous for animals and people. We were mad since we had already gotten attached to these animals. I took my dog back and asked if they would consider a refund, since they don't do refunds. They will trade animals but why would I want another diseased animal. I told the lady our one income couldn't provide treatment for a puppy and I couldn't let my kids be around sickly animals. She did give me $25 back for our dog. I must say I am forever scarred. I'll give those healthy puppies in those cardboard boxes a chance for a great family.

Fender

This is our gimpy puppy. For a long time Kevin has desperately wanted a dog and Sara has said he could have one when she was ready. Taking care of babies and puppies don't mix well with Sara. The baby is over one now and the thought processes of a dog turned in Sara's head. Then all the sudden Fender was at the house and he was definitely a keeper. We made some phone calls to people in town and he was ours. Immediately after we obtained ownership, we took him to Kevin's family reunion and the dog insisted on jumping out of the truck after tying him up on both sides with a collar. He had squeezed out of the collar and Kevin only had time to slow down to 50 mph. He broke his leg and has healed pretty nice over the last few weeks. We'll see if he recovers from the limp.

Fortunately Justin and Rachel (cousins and renters) love the dog too and so he is owned and loved by all of us.
