Bye Bye Beard!

It was time! The beard needed to go! So Kevin shaved it. Sara described the beard as "really cool looking but it's like kissing a wire brush." Apparently, some beards are soft but his was not. After a full winter of growth and a few trims for looks, Sara is finally feeling free and can now enjoy Kevin's smooth face! Hence the picture with her smiling!

Kevin is 29 for the 12th time!

Happy Birthday to Kevin! He is 29 for the 12th time aka 40 years old! Yep!
He has been such a successful husband and father, providing for our family and making our lives comfortable and fun. We love how he loves us, and feel blessed to have him as our provider and protector. He loves his work as a diesel mechanic and enjoys his coworkers. He still enjoys hunting, camping and working on his own vehicle projects.

Cookie Monster

The kids drew pictures of cookie monster at church and told Dad they drew a picture of him. He got a kick out of it. Then when I went shopping I found the perfect shirt for him for only $3 on clearance. We gave it to him for Father's Day and he wears it quite often on Sundays.

Motorcycle DUDE!

There he is. All decked out in his leather ready to ride to work. He's looks pretty smokin!

Old Toys

Here's our boys playing with some pretty old toys. These are Kevin's old toys that are in mint condition. He brought home a bunch from his parents house a while ago and the kids helped wash them off and then Kevin separated them. Some the kids can just play with but others they have to ask. Derrick asks to play with this set quite often. It is an airplane that holds mini tanks, cars, airplanes, etc. It really is cool. Kevin has a hard time sharing sometimes but he enjoyed showing Derrick (and the girls) these and teaching them how to take good care of them.

Cub Scouts-Mechanics

I am a cub scout den leader and Kevin helped me out one den meeting. He helped the Webelos do car stuff: check the oil, change a tire, change a bulb, etc. It was great, although I had to keep reminding Kevin he needed to let the boys do it. He just loves to work on cars, he can't stop himself! :) Too cute!

Paper Castle

Kevin made a fun date night with me. We get LOTS of scraps of paper from a friend and so he decided we could use them to make a castle. With the help of a stapler we were successful! The kids ended up playing with it for a few days which made it even more of a success. I love it when Kevin thinks of fun things for us to do.

Happy 3rd annual 29th

So Kevin gets another birthday and more cheesecake and more car parts... We love his birthday since we only devote a limited number of candles on his cake. They always represent something and they really do this time too. Two is for the two at the end of what age he really is! Figure that out!
The kids had fun making a card for their dad and drawing pictures that he would like, like trucks. Samantha drew him sitting in the back of his truck. Maybe she wanted him to enjoy the ride from every aspect of his favorite vehicle. Derrick's truck looked a lot like Optimus (?) Prime with the colors he included. I sketched a motorcycle for him. He totally guessed what model I used too (it was easy since it was sitting in the driveway). KayDee danced while we sang happy birthday. I believe his smile was genuine. Happy Birthday Kevin!

Scruff

Kevin got sick of shaving, not that he has to shave as often as other men, but still he was tired of it. This is about 3-4 weeks of growth. Not bad and pretty patchy. It has improved over the years.
I don't mind the scruff look every once in a while but I don't like kissing the scruff look. He decided he wanted more kisses, so he shaved it off for that benefit. We had to document the scruff with a photo.

Motorcycle Project

Kevin is working on a motorcycle so we can be more efficient with gas. It is definitely a project. We have requested a title and received it in a month (instead of the 60 days) and he has it running and is starting the painting. Maybe it will be ready by spring...

Laub Family Picture

The traditional family picture after a baby blessing. Kevin's family is getting so big and it is so fun. We bring the tripod and just do it, and they turn out pretty good.

Kevin is 29 AGAIN!

It will never end but at least it is easy to keep track of. Kevin is 29 for the third time and very proud of it. Unfortunately, like everyone else, his body is feeling some effects of aging-Crazy I know since he is constantly in tip-top shape. His last present has just arrived today (a month late) but he won't complain since they are towing mirrors for the 99 diesel! I'm sure some time will be spent putting them on tonight.

2nd Annual 29th

Happy Birthday Kevin! So it has started. The annual 29th birthday is being carried on. Kevin only remembers his dad being 29 and I guess our kids will have that same memory. Although I did tell the kids he was 30 this year and they told everyone else that but all the same, he is 29 again. The birthday hat is my favorite because it was Samantha's from school. She insisted on keeping it for her dad's birthday and Kevin willingly wore it. It is stored in a drawer now and we will see if it survives until the next birthday.
We did invite some friends over for dinner and cake. We used our whole grain noodles for the first time for lasagna and they were very filling. It was a fun evening.

Men in Suits

I gotta love my boys dressed up in suits. They look so handsome. Derrick's primary teacher told us he goes on and on about how much he likes the suit Rachel gave him. We had to take some pictures of him and his dad together in their suits. That Sunday he noticed the speakers who were wearing suits and one happened to be a young man going on a mission that week! Pretty cool.
(I couldn't tell the pictures were a little blury when I took them so they will just have to do.)

29 and Holding

Kevin has started his annual 29th birthday. He has decided to follow his Dad's footsteps and hold on 29 for each birthday. I think it is a smart idea although I am just fine with getting old so I will continue with gaining candles for my birthday cake and he will only need 29. It does make me feel better that I will always be younger than him so at least I will have that on him. Besides, getting old is what we are supposed to do and I plan on doing it. Kevin tells me that I will feel different once the wrinkles overtake my body. Right now I plan on being proud of it since that will tell people how much I've lived. We'll see.
Happy Birthday!

Tickle Me Daddy!!!

Didn't we all want to be tickled at one point in time? We have all done it and we have all realized how it is only fun when we are kids. Although many of you may not have a husband that can't just "get even"-mine "gets ahead" (that's his motto), so you may like to be tickled still. Fortunately he can pick on his children and the best part is, they line up for it. I took this picture because KayDee just laid down next to Derrick and started laughing without even being touched. She has to join the fun and knows exactly what to do. Kevin has it all worked out. Since he is tired at night and the kids want to play, he has trained them to come to him and he doesn't have to hardly move anything but his arms. It is the thrill of the evening. I love that Kevin and the kids get to enjoy each other after a long day.
