Easter 2012

 We dyed eggs with Aunt Bree and Dani this year. We colored with crayons first and then dipped them in the dye. The kids love it!

 We went back home to the town Easter Egg hunt and were joined by all the Laub cousins.

 Three cousins stayed the night and were able to play a little longer.

 We had to pack up stuff since we decided we needed to move to the farm where Kevin is working now. We just can't be apart anymore. Travis and Bree helped pack and load and we went to join the rest of the Laub's for the Easter Basket hunt at Kevin's parents.

 We did our own boiled egg hunt on Monday just in the grass next to the house.

The kids counted and sorted the eggs together after and Bree and I were excited to make deviled eggs!

Real Eggs

There aren't many egg hunts that actually involve real boiled eggs. It's a tradition that I really love. Dying eggs and coloring them with crayons and making different pictures is fun! We count the eggs before we start the hunt to make sure there aren't any left out to spoil. We also hide one present for each kid.

 And they're off!

 KayDee found her's first! Princess puzzles!

 Derrick was next and he got toy story puzzles.

 Samantha had a rough time finding her especially since it was so small. We had to give hints. We have always wanted to put an egg on the irrigation pipe, see behind her, but they're too small. So, we put her egg full of earrings on it.

 The end result: 6 eggs plus a present equal smiles!

 Two extra eggs for us. Now we can make deviled eggs!

Easter

 Kevin's mom and sister Suzy with her son Jaxon came to our town Easter Egg Hunt. It is perfect for little kids since there is a better proportion of eggs to children. The baskets are full when they are done!

Easter at Grandma's

More EASTER!

On Monday, I was able to take the kids to Kevin's family Easter basket hunt. Unfortunately Kevin had to work but we did bring home his basket, so he didn't completely miss out. We were able to visit with a couple of his siblings and parents.

Derrick all the sudden said "I found my basket. Can I have it?"

The response was "Is your name on it?"

"Yes."

"Then yes, you can have it."

After that the girls set to out to find theirs. Samantha and KayDee found theirs pretty quick and I had to be reminded to find mine. I was used to just watching the kids hunt so I didn't even think to hunt for mine.

We left early to start our irrigation and it was RAINING! It slowed as I drove south and by the time I got home there was hardly a sprinkle. I turned on the water and it started hailing! The ground was covered as if it were snow. Very soon after it melted and that is why I take pictures. White precipitation doesn't last long here so we document it so others will believe us!

Easter at Home

We celebrated Easter at home by watching conference and then coloring warm eggs with crayons inbetween sessions. It was so much more fun than dye. The kids don't have to be so patient and it is so less messy. The eggs turned out really cute-I should have taken a picture of them. All of us had so much more fun than any other egg coloring experience, including Kevin and I. It may become our tradition.

Since there was soooo much candy at the previous hunt, we decided just to give them the toys to hunt for and a large candy. I found metal shovels for a dollar at target, bug collector necklaces and goggles for swimming too. Immediately after the hunt we ate our eggs for lunch and the kids set out to find some bugs! Samantha found a spider, Derrick and KayDee a box elder bug each in the garden. Success!

Town Eastern Hunt

The Rodeo Committee in our town pulls together great gatherings for our community. They put on an Easter egg hunt on Saturday that was really great and filled the baskets to the brim in some cases (namely Derrick).

I pushed record on the VCR for the first session of Conference, loaded kids in the car, picked up two neighbor kids and off we went to the park. The Committee has figured it out so the kids only smile and the little ones don't get pushed around.

First they set up all the eggs and candy, and then they let the 0-3 year olds go first for a couple minutes. After they clear the little ones, they allowed the 4-7 year olds a head start before the older kids were allowed on the grass. It works out perfectly and there were many smiling faces.

I think we have enough starburst jelly beans to last us a few months.

Easter

We were able to have Easter with my family and Kevin's family this year. Again, we were up for Christine's wedding and we got to be there for Easter. My family did a fun Easter Egg hunt and dinner. My sister LeAnn was there too and we had a fun time together. Our kids were able to find some super fun things to get in trouble together with. They did draw on the Easter eggs with crayon before we dyed them, that's what they are doing in the picture.

The next Tuesday we went to Kevin's parents and had dinner and their Easter Basket hunt around their house. Milt, Roni and their kids were there too and clearly all the kids received sunglasses in their baskets. I received a pair of what I call power socks, which are just socks with a unique pattern. I use them when I need to be brave, like when I go to the doctor, and they can't match what I'm wearing. It works for me... These new socks happen to be white and blue with lady bugs on them, very cute!

More Easter

We had a really calm Easter with not much to do. My family was in up north and Kevin's traveled for a wedding. We went camping on Friday and Justin and Rachel treated us to dutch oven potatoes and chicken with peach cobler for dessert. Then we came home by 9:00am for the town Easter Egg hunt Saturday. Luckily, KayDee collected 2 metallic prize eggs during her age group because Samantha and Derrick couldn't compete with the 8 year olds in their group. It was extremely windy so we left quickly and did our normal Saturday stuff. My brother Spencer and his wife Celeste visited briefly to see our home and get the pop-up trailor. On Sunday, Rachel wanted to dye eggs so the two of us did it while the kids were downstairs playing and then they helped us put the stickers on the eggs.

Easter

We did just eggs for our Easter Egg Hunt this year since they got so much candy from other hunts. They loved peeling the eggs after. The dog liked it too since he ate the ones they dropped.
